I am always inspired when I see disabled athletes compete. The stamina and drive it takes to take the field and court and compete with other athletes of similar disabilities is incredible. This article talks about the recent 2017 Invictus Games.
WOW!!! Talk about food for days!!
Had the opportunity to attend the second annual Chicago Food Truck Festival on Sunday and it was GREAT!!
I will be posting these conversations to the series of posts associated with this culinary day of excitement. So without further ado, lets start with…..
On May 21, I was invited to preview the next movie in the line of films by the Kendrick Brothers. If you are not familiar with who they are, these are the filmmakers that brought us Fireproof, Facing The Giants and Courageous.
The Kendrick Brothers are Christian filmmakers that have taken us on several journeys that cover the gamut from marriage, to faith and back to fatherhood. This time that trip takes on an a voyage to restore our faith and ability as it pertains to prayer.
The film is the story of an African-American family that is in turmoil. The disparity between the husband, wife and little daughter is acted out incredibly by a magnificent cast, Patricia Striver, T.C. Stalling, and Alena Pitts. They are a young family is distress as they appear to have it all. But the one thing missing is God.
Along comes an incredible older African-American woman, played by Karen Abercrombie. Her character steals the show, and steers the movie. Her no nonsense approach to helping the young wife and mother to realize who is trying to destroy her marriage and family is direct and will lead you from laughter to tears.
The story is one that opens that door to being clear on the importance of prayer. Using prayer and the power it has as a weapon against the true enemy that invades our relationships. We spent more time fighting each other than fighting the enemy. War Room is a film that helps to show us who the enemy really is, how we can build a strategy to beat him and how to put that strategy into action.
It will be in theaters starting on August 28. I was able to see it early and I am very glad that I did. The Kendrick Brothers have, once again, brought us a film that is well worth seeing.
I would encourage everyone to have a look at this incredible film. Not often do we get to see films that give us Godly values, and too far often do we see them with African-Americans in premier roles.

Looking forward to being there to taste some great food and also as a fact finding mission for the launch of the OrganicBabyDaddy Food Truck!!
Come out and let me know if you will be there.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of entering a store that was right up my alley – 100% Pure. Located in the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL, is a small store that hit me in a big way.
All of the products in the store are 100% pure and natural. It is not very often that I come across products that are 100% natural and consist of ingredients that are pure. However, this place contained products for face, hair, skin, body, babies and nails, as well as fruit dyed makeup.
Stop by one of their locations in California, Washington, and Maryland.
A direct quote from their website, http://www.100percentpure.com/
“100% Pure creates healthy products for our body and also for the environment. Our corporate offices are run by 100% solar energy, our company is 100% electric and our pure, biodegradable formulas are packaged with post consumer recycled plastic, glass, soda cans, paper and printed with biodegradable non toxic vegetable ink. 100% Pure loves animals – we are completely cruelty free and charitable towards animal welfare.”
Check out the site and if they are close by, stop in and see what they have to offer.
